Eduard Ivan is a trainee trade mark attorney who assists clients with a broad range of contentious and non-contentious trade mark matters. He works with brands across a variety of sectors, including healthcare, technology, cosmetics and leisure.
He is also an active member of the firm’s Digital Media and Space groups, with a particular interest in the protection and enforcement of brands in digital and technology-driven markets.
Education & background
Eduard graduated with a first-class honours degree in Law from the University of Southampton in 2025. As part of his studies, he spent a year at The University of Hong Kong, focussing on Intellectual Property and Competition Law, alongside modules in Mandarin and Archaeology.
His final-year dissertation was awarded the highest mark in his cohort.
He has gained exposure to intellectual property litigation through mini pupillages at leading IP chambers and by observing proceedings before the High Court and Court of Appeal, including Getty Images v Stability AI.
Eduard is a native Romanian speaker and has been studying Japanese for several years.
On a personal note…
Outside of work, Eduard is a keen musician, an armchair historian and an enthusiastic tennis player. He enjoys writing and recording original music, reading about the Roman and medieval periods and working on a tennis serve that reflects more determination than consistency. In his downtime, he enjoys fantasy novels, video games and, when in need of disappointment, supporting the Baltimore Orioles.
