Caroline Foucher MSc, PhD

Trainee Patent Attorney

Caroline Foucher is a trainee patent attorney in our Electronics, Computing & Physics group.

Caroline has experience working on all aspects of the patent process, from draft and filing to grant, specialising in physics-related inventions including optics/photonics, materials, and mechanics.

Education & background

Prior to starting her patent attorney training, Caroline worked with several notable institutions across the world, including the Institute of Photonics at the University of Strathclyde, Luminous, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) in Canada. As a Research Fellow, she designed, produced, and characterised colour converters, analysed their effectiveness for fast optical communication, and led a group of 14 researchers focused on nonlinear photonics.

Caroline gained her MSc degree in Materials Physics from the University of Salford, followed by her PhD in Physics from the University of Strathclyde.

On a personal note...

In her spare time, Caroline enjoys being creative with watercolor and ceramics painting, as well as knitting. She also enjoys keeping active by participating in spin classes.
